Modification and Evaluation of the Performance of Agricultural Manual Mixing Machine
Abstract
The modification of the manually operated multi-purpose mixing machine was under taken with the intention of providing a simple and effective solution to the problem of hand mixing of either chemicals with agricultural materials or different agricultural materials together. The developed mixing machine is made up principally of hopper through which the materials are introduced into the machine for mixing operation. The performance of the machine was evaluated based on its effective capacity, damage grains and scatter losses. Results showed that both damage grains and scatter losses are zero, with moderate effective capacity of 240 kg per hour. The cost was reduced by about 65% compared with the existing motorized mixers, thus making it potentially more economical and easier to afford by peasant farmers and food processors.
